    Blessings from Siam Nikaya to ‘Yukthiya’ Program

    Mahanayaka Thero of Malwathu and Asgiri faction of Siam Maha Nikaya say that the government’s program to combat criminals including drug dealers has the blessings of the Maha Sangha.

    He further stated that this program should be continued to protect the entire community in this country.

    On the occasion of the completion of one month since the start of the ‘Yukthiya’ Operation, Public Security Minister Mr. Tiran Alas visited the Mahanayake Thero of Malwatu and Asgiri faction today (17) to receive the blessings of the Mahanayake Theros of Malwathu and Asgiri faction.

    He visited the Malwathu Maha Vihara and received the blessings of Reverend Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero, Mahanayake of the Malwathu faction of the Siam Maha Nikaya.

    The minister who engaged in discussions with him later visited Reverend Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhamma Thero, Anunayaka of the Malwathu faction, and informed about his program.

    After visiting the Sri Dalada Palace, the minister paid a visit to the Mahanayaka of the Asgiri faction, Most Venerable Warakagoda Gnanarathana Thero, after offering prayers to the Sacred Tooth Relic.

    Later, he visited Reverend Wedaruwe Upali Thero, Anunayaka of the Asgiri faction and Asgiri faction’s deputy registrar, Reverend Naranpanawe Ananda Thero, Asgiri Maha Piriven Parivenadhipathi, and engaged in a friendly discussion.

    Reverend Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero, the great leader of the Malwathu faction, pointed out that this program should be continued to combat crime and also mentioned that discussions should be held to bring foreign criminals to justice.

    Mahanayaka Thero and Anunayake Thero blessed the government’s program and emphasized that this operation should continue.

    Speaking before the great leaders, Minister Tiran Alas said that he was able to achieve many goals in a short period of one month. It is said that enemies have increased during these operations and obstacles will arise in suppressing the powerful underworld with financial ties.

    Mr. Alas also said that he discussed with the Dubai government to arrest the suspects who have committed many crimes including murder.

    He also said that international red notices have been issued to arrest the criminals.

    The minister further mentioned that the contracts are given by criminals abroad to conduct crimes in this country.

    Central Province Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Lalith Patinayake and Kandy Divisional Senior Superintendent of Police Chamil Ratnayake also joined the occasion.
