Spillways have been Opened in Many Reservoirs

Due to the current heavy rains, spillways of many major reservoirs in the country have been opened.

Manik, Nilwala, Mahaweli, Yan Oya have overflowed and surrounding roads have also been submerged.

The Palatupana, Tissamaharama entrance of the Yala National Park has been closed due to the overflowing of the Menik river. But the Katagamuwa entrance remains open.

Due to the rising water level in Kala Wewa, the office in charge of the Kala Wewa Reservoir has taken steps to open the two emergency spillways again.

Accordingly, the Kala Wewa Reservoir Office has taken steps to open the two emergency spillways at 10 feet each by 8.30 am today (10).

Below is the information of the reservoirs which have reached the flood level as of today.
