Bangladesh’s cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan won a parliamentary seat in the general election of Bangladesh.

Shakib Al Hasan, in his constituency of Magura, has defeated his opponent by a margin of more than 150,000 votes.

Reports in the country show that 36-year-old Shakib Al Hasan is leading his political team in all ways, just like he did in the cricket team.

Shakib achieved this remarkable victory by contesting the election as a candidate of the ruling Awami League party, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), had decided to boycott the election.

Although it is a controversial general election, the country’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expects to gain power for the fifth time in this general election.

He has emphasized that despite winning a parliamentary seat, Shakib has not yet retired from cricket.

He has vehemently denied claims by others that he cannot successfully juggle his job as a country’s legislator as well as a cricket captain by taking only a short break from the game.

According to the International Cricket Council, Shakib Al Hasan is the first person to hold the top spot for all-rounders simultaneously in all three formats of cricket.
