Part of the Northern Railway will be Closed From Today

The route between Mahawa and Anuradhapura on the Northern Railway will be temporarily closed from today (07).

The railway department says that this route will be closed for a period of 06 months.

It is for the development of the road between Mahava and Anuradhapura.

From today only trains will run from Colombo to Mahava and from Anuradhapura to Kankasanthurai.

Meanwhile, in addition to the Northern Railway, the Batticaloa Railway is also planned to be repaired this year, says Mr. Bandula Gunawardena, Minister of Transport.

Attending a press conference held in the Batticaloa area, Minister Bandula Gunawardena mentioned that under this, a new train service from Batticaloa to Jaffna is also planned to be started.
