The Sri Lanka Electricity Board strongly rejects the statement made by the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) that he took the blame for the many hours of power outage that occurred simultaneously across the country on the 9th.

Rejecting the statement as a false statement, the CEB stated that investigations are still ongoing in this regard.

“After completion of the investigation, we can make a statement in this regard,” said the spokesperson of the Electricity Board, Engr. Noel Priyantha said in a press release.

Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission, Prof. Manjula Fernando quoted the CEB today and admitted that the CEB made a mistake regarding the recent power outage across the island.

The internal investigation committee chaired by a CEB Additional General Manager and the external investigation committee appointed by the Ministry of Power and Energy are investigating the power outage.
