Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is elected once again as the leader of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
It is at the National General Conference of the party which is currently being held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.
Member of Parliament Mr. Gamini Lokuge proposed the name of Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa for the leadership of SLPP.
It was confirmed there by Member of Parliament Mr. Johnston Fernando.
The council raised their hands and passed the resolution unanimously.
