Minister of Power and Energy Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera says that the Cabinet approved yesterday to enter into a power purchase agreement with Australia’s United Solar Group.
The investment will be for a 700 MW solar power project with a 1500 MW battery energy storage system.
The solar energy project will be established on the surface of Poonakary Lake in Kilinochchi district.
The minister says that there will be a direct foreign investment of 1,727 million dollars for that.
