The Postal Department says that the historic Nuwara Eliya Post Office building has been approved to be used for an investment project.
Accordingly, its future development activities will be carried out by the Urban Development Authority.
In this regard, Director General of Urban Development Authority Prasad Ranaweera said that further steps will be taken after providing an alternative location for the post office.
In recent days, postal employees across the country as well as many parties had protested to provide this post office with historical value, which has attracted tourist attraction, for a project.
