The Vavuniya Police say that a former member of the LTTE threatened a group of people who exhibited the photos and banners of the dignitaries killed by the LTTE during the war and destroyed the banners and boards in the exhibition last evening.
The police mentioned that these boards and banners were displayed in front of the post office in Vavuniya city since the 25th.
A senior police officer said that these banners and boards were displayed by a peaceful group living in Vavuniya area.
The police say that a former LTTE member who came to the place yesterday evening, broke signs and banners and behaved riotously and threatened the people present at the place.
The police have arrested the person concerned. His name is S Anandavaranan, a resident of Vavuniya Thonikkal aged 42.
