Attention has also been focused on the appointment of a Parliamentary Select Committee to investigate the irregularities in Sri Lankan cricket.
The Secretary General of the Parliament said that it was agreed to establish this committee under a joint chairmanship of governing parties and opposition and under an equal number of committee members.
It has also been decided to hold committee meetings on public enterprises regarding Sri Lanka Cricket and other institutions.
It has also been discussed that if any action is taken regarding the chairmanship of the committee, it should be done according to the decision of the members of the committee.
The opposition MPs had recently said in the meeting that the Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises or the COPE Committee, the Member of Parliament of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Professor Ranjith Bandara, should be removed from that chairmanship.
