Yesterday morning, the Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department arrested a person who prepared a fake attorney permit for a land of 04 acres and 23 perches in Pannala area and sold the land for 160 lakh rupees.
A 72-year-old man, a resident of Marasinghagoda Road, Hokandara East, Athurugiriya, has been arrested.
The Criminal Investigation Department states that this person has prepared a fake power of attorney for the relevant land and taken the land to himself and committed this fraud.
A complaint was submitted to the Criminal Investigation Department regarding this fraud in 2017. The Criminal Investigation Department has conducted investigations for 06 years and arrested the suspect.
After being produced before the Kurunegala Magistrate’s Court, the suspect was released on two personal bails of Rs. 05 lakh and cash bail of Rs. 10,000.
