The 2024 budget report is to be presented to Parliament tomorrow (13) by President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Minister of Finance.
The President joined a discussion on the preparation and presentation of the final stage of the budget this morning (12) at his official residence.
State Minister for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that in this year’s budget, the President’s attention is focused on proposing an increase in public sector salaries and private sector salaries.
The employees of various sectors of the public service also engaged in protests in recent days demanding a salary increase of 20,000 rupees.

Samaratunga, Presidential Adviser Saman Athavudahetti, Finance Ministry Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena, Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Presidential Media Director General Dhanushka Ramanayake, Senior Assistant Secretary to the President Madhushanka Dissanayake joined today’s budget discussion.
