14 cases of Delta (Indian) variant of Covid-19 virus have been reported in Sri Lanka.
This is confirmed by the Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr. Hemantha Herath.
The Delta variant has been identified as a more virulent variety than the previous virus.
The World Health Organization (WHO) says the Delta virus has now spread to 98 countries.
It has been confirmed that there were 34 deaths in covid yesterday (2).
The total number of Covid deaths in the country has risen to 3191.
