The Minister of State for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that the Ramis project to digitize tax-related activities will be implemented from next month.
Accordingly, this will also enable electronic collection of income data due to integration with a number of institutions, rather than based on data provided by the individual, as was the case previously.
Due to the merger of a large number of institutions such as Customs, Excise Department, Land Registration Department etc., the data of the person liable to pay tax is filed in the Inland Revenue Department.
Accordingly, the tax burden of people who should not have to be taxed will be eased through the proper collection of taxes.
Although this system was started in 2013, it has not been implemented due to non-payment of 10 million US dollars.
