03 Passengers tested +ve for covid traveled in the bus that broke the Travel Restrictions

Three luxury buses plying between Colombo and Batticaloa, despite provincial traffic restrictions, have been taken into police custody and three Covid infected have been identified during a rapid antigen test.

The buses were inspected by Army and police officers on duty at an Army barricade on the Chenkaladi-Badulla road today (02), police spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He states that these three buses have not been given any permission or license to travel between the provinces. At the time of the inspection, 49 passengers were traveling in the three buses. The infected were found in one of the buses. There were 20 people traveling in the bus. Accordingly, the other 17 persons in the bus have been quarantined.
