According to the Department of Registration of Persons, the National Identity Card issuance service will resume from July 05. But the one-day service of issuing National Identity Cards is no longer operational.
It had been suspended due to the Covid epidemic.
From that day onwards, the service will be available only to a limited number of applicants who have booked a date and number.
The Department states that the National Identity Cards have been prepared and sent to the Persons who requested them from the Department of Registration of Persons by registered mail as soon as possible even in the face of the current Corona epidemic in the country.
Accordingly, applicants who have not yet received their identity cards have been given the opportunity to come to the department and obtain their National Identity Cards by booking a date and number.
Individuals who wish to obtain NICs can obtain the NICs by following the above procedure by submitting the duly completed applications to the NICs Division of the relevant Divisional Secretariat by the Grama Niladharis of the relevant division.
Applicants wishing to obtain such Identity Cards are required to contact the Divisional Secretariat Identity Card Division on the working days of the week before coming to the Department at the Battaramulla Head Office or the Southern Provincial Office or to book a date and number at the following telephone numbers.
