Police Special Task Force officers in Buttala, Sri Lanka, conducted a raid on a residence located on Ella-Wellawaya Road, Post 01. During the operation, they discovered a cache of weapons, including a 12-bore ammunition gun from England, a gun capable of using 12-bore ammunition from Russia, two hand grenades, a significant amount of ammunition, and a set of bulletproof clothing.
A man identified as Okkampitiye Baby, who was residing in the house, was arrested by the Special Task Force along with the seized firearms and explosives. The suspect has been handed over to the Wellawaya Police. Interestingly, the house where the raid took place is reportedly owned by Mr. Ananda Kumarasiri, a former Member of Parliament and former Deputy Speaker of the United National Party.
