President Ranil Wickramasinghe has taken immediate action to address the deteriorating conditions at the Bambalapitiya railway station. He has instructed the commencement of construction for a new bridge to replace the dilapidated passenger flyover. Until the new bridge is completed, the President has directed the construction of a temporary access road within 10 days. This initiative aims to ensure the safety and convenience of passengers during the construction period.
Additionally, the existing flyover will be demolished as part of the plan, and the construction of the new bridge is expected to be completed within five months. These measures reflect the government’s commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure and passenger experience in the region.
