President Ranil Wickremesinghe has made a request to politicians to avoid prominently featuring his photo in cutouts and posters. This request came during his speech at the 150th-anniversary event of Madhya Maha Vidyalaya – Chenkaladi, Batticaloa.
The President’s request follows the installation of a large cutout featuring his image in Batticaloa. The cutout read ‘We For Ranil 2024’ and was placed in the city center in anticipation of the President’s visit to the area.
President Wickremesinghe used this occasion to ask politicians to limit the use of their photos in campaign materials. He stressed the need for a collective commitment among politicians to prioritize the interests of the people over excessive use of cutouts and slogans in political campaigns.
