Minister of State for Finance Shehan Semasinghe says that an existing restriction on the import of vehicles will be eased next week.
Accordingly, the import limit imposed on 67 commercial vehicles and goods belonging to 299 HS codes will be eased, he said while making a special statement in Parliament today (04).
However, the state minister also said that the government has not yet decided to relax the import restrictions of 304 HS codes related to private vehicles.
Iin the next week, we hope to relax the restrictions other than the restrictions applicable to HS Code 304 regarding private vehicles. In that, 299 HS codes are applicable for other goods, and 67 HS codes are applicable for commercial vehicles. We worked as a government to change the procedure taken in the beginning.” He said.
