It has been confirmed that 26 monks residing at the Delduwa Ganewatta ancient temple in Wadduwa have been infected with Covid.
In addition, it has been confirmed that four lay persons in the temple have been infected with Covid.
Due to the presence of Covid symptoms in several monks living in the temple, a rapid antigen test was carried on Monday (28). At first, five monks and a layman were confirmed with the infection.
Subsequently, antigen tests were carried out on 83 monks living in the temple and another 21 were found to be infected with Covid. In addition, three lay persons also have been diagnosed with Covid.
Among the Covid-infected monks are the chief incumbent thero too.
All of them have been referred to Covid Treatment Centers.
