The Ceylon Electricity Board says that the article circulating in some newspapers and social media that Chinese engineers are being recruited for the Lakwijaya Power Plant in Norochcholai is a false and baseless claim.
Interviews have been conducted to recruit local engineers for the current vacancy in the Electricity Board, and the necessary activities are underway to recruit suitable engineers from that group.
Meanwhile, among the more than 400 people who appeared for interviews, 19 people have been selected, and necessary arrangements are being made to get the necessary approval for recruitment.
Also, Mr. Rohan Senevirathna, General Manager of Ceylon Electricity Board, said that neither the Ministry nor the Electricity Board has taken any policy decision or approval to recruit foreign engineers.
