Laws to investigate the cases withdrawn by the Bribery Commission

The Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reform Mr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa says that the new Anti-Corruption Act will be implemented from the 15th of this month.

He emphasizes that the relevant gazette will also be published in the near future.

The minister mentions that the existing bribery law only applied to the public sector and politicians and that through the new act, there is the possibility of investigating corruption in the private sector as well.

The Minister of Justice also said that if the existing Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission has given any wrong decision or has withdrawn the cases for various reasons, the new Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission has the full power to investigate it.
