The National Police Commission has issued a special gazette notification to expedite and streamline the investigation of public complaints against the police service or a police officer.

The new gazette notice has empowered the investigative committees to deal with public complaints against the police in a transparent manner and a program has been implemented to provide quick relief to the aggrieved parties.

The special gazette notice also states that the Police Commission can authorize an authorized officer or other independent investigative officers appointed by the commission to obtain copies of the statements made to the police to interrogate a person detained in police cells.

The special gazette notice issued on November 28, 2017 regarding the investigation of complaints against the police or police officers has been canceled and a new gazette notice has been issued.
