Effective from today (03), sewerage charges have also been raised.

That is in relation to the revision of water charges.

These fees have been raised in a special gazette notification issued by the Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development Mr. Jeevan Thondaman.

Accordingly, even if there is zero usage in a particular month, monthly sewerage service charges must be paid.

In addition to the water supply of the Water Supply Board, when using some other alternative water sources, the customer has to pay an additional fee determined by the General Manager of the Water Supply Board from time to time as the usage fee.

In the event that only sewerage services are obtained without water supply, the water supply board officials shall set the sewerage charges at an estimated value determined after a field inspection with the participation of the consumers.

Customers who fail to pay their water and sewerage bill within 30 days of receipt of the relevant month’s water and sewerage bill will have their water supply and sewerage service disconnected.

Below is the relevant gazette.
