The special gazette notice related to the revision of water charges has been published in relation to the increase in water charges effective from 01 August.
This notice has been issued by the Minister of Water Supply and Public Infrastructure Development, Mr. Jeevan Thondaman, under Section 84 of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board Law No. 02 of 1974.
This amendment has increased the water charges according to the amount of units used.
However, it is stated that there has been no increase in the water charges of Samurdhi beneficiaries and estate houses in this tariff revision.
Water tariff has been increased for all other sectors.
Domestic water charges for first 05 units have increased from Rs. 20 to Rs. 60 per unit in the new tariff revision.
