A slaughterhouse owned by a Gem businessman was raided

Yesterday, the Central Anti-Corruption Task Force in Panadura Walane succeeded in raiding an illegal slaughterhouse that had been running openly in Welipane for some time with the blessing of politics and the police.

Most of the buffaloes have been killed in this slaughterhouse, which is located at a distance of 800 meters from the Welipanna police station. Even when the police raided, 13 buffaloes were tied up, ready to be killed.

After the arrest of the millionaire gem businessman, he tried to escape by giving a bribe of one and a half lakh rupees to the police officers. When the officials refused, they again tried to give a bribe of 03 lakh rupees. After refusing that too, political pressure has been put on the police officers.

They have informed their superiors regarding the pressure put on Central Anti-Corruption Force Director Assistant Superintendent of Police KA Udayakumara and Chief Inspector Indika Weerasinghe to release this millionaire gem businessman. There, the higher officials have been instructed to implement the law properly without giving any leeway.

The raid was carried out on information received by Chief Inspector Indika Weerasinghe, station commander of the Central Anti-Corruption Task Force. It has been found in the investigation that between 10 and 15 buffaloes are killed here every day. During this raid, a stock of horn plates of many buffaloes killed in this way was also found.

Investigations have also revealed that buffaloes are brought to this place by stealing them from the south. A set of weapons used for butchering cows was also found during this raid.

According to the orders and instructions of the Director of the Central Anti-Corruption Task Force, Mr. KA Udayakumara, the raid was conducted by the Chief Inspector of Police, Mr. Indika Weerasinghe.
