Mr. Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Education, also mentioned that steps will be taken to establish a separate unit under the National Education Commission for the regulation of all international schools.

The minister also said:

“There are two types of private schools. One is government aided schools. Then the government will provide full uniforms, textbooks and teacher’s salaries. We also provide training to all those referred to us in private schools. There are non government aided schools which are completely private. They are controlled by their own separate institutions. But if there is any complaint from them, we will check it by the private sector and we will take the necessary remedies for it. The next section is international schools. There are over 300 such schools across the country. There is a problem with their quality. Because all of them are registered under the Companies Act. Therefore, a proposal has been submitted by the National Education Commission. We will take it to the commission and establish a unit necessary for the regulation of international schools.” He mentioned.
