Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha says that the ‘Suraksha’ student insurance system will be restarted from the year 2024.
Due to various reasons, this insurance system was discontinued in the past.
The Minister said this while attending the “Sthawara Ratakata Sawoma Eka Magakata” news conference held at the Presidential Media Center yesterday (10).
This is implemented in such a way that the students of all government schools, Piriven, private schools as well as international schools get benefits.
It was earlier announced that all the 4.5 million students aged 5-21 years in all the schools in the country are entitled to health insurance.
It was mentioned earlier that under this insurance claim, Rs. 200,000/- for inpatient treatment in a government or private hospital, Rs. 20,000/- for outpatient treatment, Rs. 200,000/- for critical illness treatment and the total amount spent on it according to the need, in case of total disability Rs. 200,000 and in case of partial disability from Rs.150,000/- to Rs. 200,000/- and in case of death of a parent Rs. 200,000/- for each, (separately for all children in the family) in case of death of a student an amount of Rs. 150,000/- will also be offered as benefits.
