Sri Lanka Infantry Corporal BRKL Karunaratne, who immediately intervened to prevent a major accident and saved the lives of more than 50 passengers, was praised by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena today (10).
On 26.05.2023, the bus travelled in the Ududumbara area from Kandy to Mahiyanganaya. This accident was meant to happen in a way that bus overturned into a cliff.
At that time, the driver was thrown from the driver’s seat, and the bus without the driver was traveling for about 50 meters.
At that time, the army corporal who was travelling in the bus took immediate action and managed to stop the bus which was running without a driver to a big wall with great effort and managed to stop a big accident.
The Prime Minister has praised him for his amazing mission of saving more than 50 lives without harming anyone.
In the past, The Commander of the Army had presented the Commander of the Army Commendation Badge to Corporal KMBRKL Karunaratne in appreciation for another exemplary act as a brave soldier.
