Inflation decreased further

According to the Department of Census and Statistics, inflation in Sri Lanka dropped to 22.1% in May.

The department also says that the inflation in Sri Lanka was recorded as 33.6% last April, and compared to that, the inflation in May has dropped significantly.

The department said that inflation in the food category was reported as 27.1% in April, but it was reported to have decreased to 15.8% in May.

The Department of Population and Statistics states that the annual inflation of the non-food category was 39% in April and it has decreased to 27.6% in May.

It is stated in the announcement issued in May by that department that the prices of fish, vegetables, poultry, dhal, potatoes, big onions, lime, dried fish and canned fish had increased significantly, while the prices of food items like rice, fruits, milk powder, oil, chilli powder, bread, eggs had decreased.
