Trade Minister Nalin Fernando suggests to bakery owners that the price of bakery products including bread should be reduced by 10 rupees immediately.
The minister pointed out that a gazette notification naming wheat flour as a specific product was issued because companies are likely to increase the price of wheat flour.
According to the new gazette notification, domestic wheat flour companies should obtain the approval of the Consumer Affairs Authority if they increase the price of wheat flour in the future.
Meanwhile, the All Island Canteen Owners’ Association (AICOA) stated today that although eggs were provided for bakery products, the price of any bakery product has not been reduced.
