A team of officers of the Oddusudan Police has arrested a temple priest who rapped a 20-year-old girl after feeding her ganja-mixed roti and giving her alcohol.
This 33-year-old priest, who is a resident of Suranagar, Trincomalee, raped a young woman residing in Puttur, Jaffna.
He raped this girl when she was visiting a relative’s house in Oddusudan.
The police say that this priest resides in a newly built temple in Oddusudan. The temple is near her relative’s house. When this young woman went to a pooja in the temple with her relatives the other day, the priest told the relatives that the young woman’s body had faults and diseases. He started treating her in a room of her relative’s house on the 16th, saying that he had a treatment method for them.
There, the priest gave her roti mixed with cannabis to eat, gave alcohol and raped her and did not allow anyone to enter the room.
According to her complaint to the police, investigations were conducted, and the suspect was arrested today.
Please call him a “monk” instead of a priest because it’s misleading otherwise! Priests are Christians.
