It has been revealed that the police brutally assaulted the maid, who was arrested for allegedly stealing gold from the house of Mrs. Sudarma Netthi Kumara, who is a television drama producer as well as a businesswoman.
It has also been revealed in the investigation into her death that the maid fell ill and was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital due to a medical condition that arose after the assault.
Due to the information received by the Inspector General from various parties that the death of the maid who died while in police custody was suspicious, an investigation was started by the Police Special Investigation Unit.
It has been revealed not only that she was assaulted, but also that she was arrested illegally.
The police information further stated that the efforts made by the higher officials of the Welikada Police to hide the fact that this death was a death after an assault is also being revealed.
Accordingly, police information disclosed that several Welikada Police officers will be arrested today and tomorrow.
