The cabinet has approved the import of 25,000 metric tons of urea fertilizer for paddy cultivation this year.
Accordingly, Lanka Fertilizer Company will import 60% and Colombo Commercial Fertilizer Company Limited will import 40% of that amount of fertilizer.
It was stated that the Minister of Agriculture has submitted this proposal to the Cabinet considering the amount of urea fertilizer available in 2 government fertilizer companies and the private sector and the remaining stock in agricultural service centers for the yala season.
