A special team of Mount Lavinia Police has arrested 14 persons including 6 women after raiding a gambling spot run by a married couple at their home in Moratumulla.
This gambling spot has been in operation since the beginning of the traffic restrictions and has not been raided by the area police. The raid was carried out yesterday (20) based on information provided by the residents of the area to the Mount Lavinia Police.
Police say that the couple is also among the suspects arrested. Even at the time of the raid, around one and a half lakhs were being bet. The money has also been taken into police custody. The suspects are due to be produced in court today.
