The Medical Officer of Health has designated 59 divisions as Dengue High Risk Zones across the country.
So far, only 19 medical officer divisions had been designated as dengue high risk zones.
The National Dengue Control Program also states that the number of high-risk areas has increased due to the rapid spread of dengue fever across the country.
The program also says that dengue fever patients are commonly found in Wadduwa, Udunuwara, Wattegama, Akurassa, Walasmulla, Puttalam, Badulla, Kuruwita and Kegalle medical officer divisions.
