Electricity and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that after sending the final draft of the new Electricity Act to the Attorney General’s Department at the end of this month, it is expected to be sent to the Cabinet and Parliament for approval.
The Minister says that currently the drafting of the new Electricity Act is in the final stage.
In a tweet, the minister says that after drafting the relevant bill, steps will be taken to hand over its copies to stakeholders, development agents and restructuring experts.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera expects to receive their observations and recommendations on that.
