It is reported that a principal of a major school in Colombo, who is said to have committed a financial crime of about 76 lakh rupees in the admission of students to the school, has been removed from that school and assigned as an additional director of the Colombo Zonal Education Office.

Ministry of Education sources also say that while an investigation is being conducted against the principal, the Ministry of Education attached him with the approval of the Public Service Commission and later he was released to the Colombo Zonal Education Office.

The Ceylon Teachers Union also alleges that the school where this principal worked belongs to the Colombo Education Zone and that his assignment to that zone is a conspiracy to suppress investigations.
