The Cabinet has approved two proposals in the Cabinet meeting held yesterday (08) related to the operation of SriLankan Airlines.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has given its approval to award the CFM Leap 1A type aircraft engine overhaul contract and to award aircraft fueling contracts for SriLankan Airlines at 16 airports worldwide.
Tenders have been invited under the limited international bidding process for the provision of fuel at 17 airports for SriLankan Airlines. For that, 52 bids have been received from 12 companies, and 49 bids have met the initial qualifications. The bid of the only bidder for China’s Shanghai Pudong Airport has been rejected. Accordingly, as per the recommendations of the Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet, the Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation to award the relevant contracts to the bidders who have submitted the minimum prices that have responded substantially to the supply of fuel at 16 airports.
Also, for the provision of CFM Leap 1A type engine maintenance services for 03 aircraft of SriLankan Airlines, detailed proposals have been invited from qualified suppliers under the limited international competitive bidding system, and 03 proposals have been received. Accordingly, the Cabinet has also approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation to award the contract for the repair of 03 CFM Leap 1A type aircraft engines to Lufthansa Technik AG as recommended by the Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet.
