The annual Vesak procession of the Temple of the Tooth commemorating the Birth, Enlightenment & Mahaparinibbhana of Lord Buddha took place yesterday (05) afternoon as per tradition.
It is an ancient tradition to hold a procession at the Temple of the Tooth on the occasion of Vesak Poya.
The Relic Casket was carried by the Tusker Migara accompanied by Burumaraja & Pulathisiraja of Sri Dalada Maligawa stables.
The Vesak procession, consisting of dancing groups and elephants, entered from Sri Dalada Palace and passed through Maha Maluwa Road, DS Senanayake Street, Temple Road and returned to Temple of the Tooth.
