The Ceylon Teachers Union alleges that the entire transfer process has become chaotic due to the appointment of a committee by the Secretary of Education claiming to consider appeals while the transfers of teachers were to be formally carried out before.
Mr. Joseph Stalin, Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union, said that the teacher transfer process has been disrupted due to the influence of the principals of several popular schools and that some principals are not releasing the teachers who have been transferred.
Mr. Stalin also said that teachers and principals staying in the same school for more than ten years has led to smuggling in schools and disrupting the education process.
The teacher transfers were supposed to take effect from the 17th, but it is getting delayed.
