14 Sri Lankans evacuated from Sudan due to the ongoing crisis have arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport today.
Sisira Senaviratne, Director General of the Consular Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that it was easy to evacuate them with the coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the generous support of the Saudi Arabian government.
The Sri Lankan Embassies in Riyadh and Cairo and the Sri Lankan Consulate General in Jeddah are working with the Saudi Arabian Government and Indian Government authorities to evacuate the Sri Lankans living in Khartoum who have requested to be rescued.
The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Nairobi and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Muscat are also assisting in the evacuation process.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to monitor the situation in Sudan.
The government informs that they are ready to assist the Sri Lankans who are still in Sudan if a request is made for their evacuation.
