According to the National Dengue Control Unit, 15 people have died due to dengue so far this year.
The unit also states that the number of dengue cases reported so far exceeds 29,000.
The highest number of patients are reported from the Western Province, which is 49%.
Meanwhile, 55 medical officer divisions in 15 districts have been designated as dengue high risk zones.
A latest report issued by the National Dengue Control Unit states that the districts are Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, Matale, Hambantota, Galle and Matara.
Also, health medical officer divisions in Jaffna, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Kegalle and Ratnapura districts are also included in dengue high risk areas.
Meanwhile, a special dengue control program was started on the 26th, covering all areas of the Western Province.
It will be held till next 02nd.
The Ministry of Health stated that houses in the Western Province will be inspected from today in conjunction with this program.
The Ministry of Health added that legal action will be taken against people who maintain premises where dengue mosquitoes can breed.
