The government is preparing to issue a special circular next week for the public sector employees appearing in the local government elections.
The Prime Minister, Minister of Public Administration, Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena, said in Parliament today (28) that this circular will give permission to the public sector employees who are appearing in the local government elections to work in the government institutions in the areas close to the constituencies for which he is contesting.
Also, the Prime Minister said that the employees who come to work in government institutions from remote areas will be given the opportunity to do their duties again in the same institutions.
Although the local government election was postponed due to a lack of funds, it has not been cancelled yet.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the Election Commission has also indicated that under such a situation, it is important to act in a manner that does not violate the election law.
