Drink water every half hour

Dr. Ranjith Batuantudawa, director of the Colombo Health Promotion Bureau, said that in order to prevent dehydration caused by the extreme heat these days, every person should drink about 200 milliliters of water at least once in half an hour.

He mentioned that every person should deliberately take steps to drink water every half an hour before he/she feels thirsty and, in addition drink as much liquid as possible to prevent dehydration.

Mr. Ranjith Batuanthudava mentioned that the workers who work continuously in the workplaces should go to a shaded place every half an hour to rest and working in the sun continuously for hours can cause health problems.

In addition, he mentioned that the Health Promotion Bureau has sent a set of health habits instructions to the Ministry of Education to save school children from heatstroke.
