The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) party has appointed a monk as its new chariman.
At the general meeting of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna held today, Reverend, Professor Uthurawala Dhammarathana Thero has been appointed as the President of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
That is Instead of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Member of Parliament Mr. G.L. Peiris.
The chairman of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna party, Professor G. L. Peiris was dismissed from the post in March.
The General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Mr. Sagara Kariyawasam said that the Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna made a unanimous decision to remove Professor G. L. Peiris from the post of Chairman.
