A person who said to be burned himself is caught by the police after 18 months

The police had found some body parts of a person who was burned to death on October 29, 2021, near a stone quarry in Kuda Rambewa, Palugaswewa, Habarana.

A letter was also found near it and according to the letter, Sudesh Ilangasinghe (27), a resident of Palugaswewa, died. According to the letter, he committed suicide. Even the handwriting of the letter was confirmed to be his.

Several cases were pending in court against the person who committed suicide. Due to the fact that none of the family was present during the magistrate’s investigation regarding the death, the police have doubts about it. Therefore, the police decided to conduct a comprehensive investigation into this suicide.

The police suspect that this suicide may have been an act as a ploy to escape from the cases.

Meanwhile, Sudesh Ilangasinghe, who is said to have committed suicide, and his friend Gayan Wijesinghe (36), a resident of Ranavirugama, Medirigiriya were arrested on April 06 at the Makulugaswewa Police Station. It is regarding a crime.

During the questioning of Sudesh Ilangasinghe, it is revealed that the other person is in hiding by pretending to have killed himself. He started to say that he was engaged in that ploy on October 20, 2021 after killing and burning a beggar. He also said that the suspect who was arrested with him named Gayan Wijesinghe, helped him to do that.

During the questioning of the suspect named Gayan Wijesinghe about this, he said that no beggar was killed. The suspect also told the police that a dead body excavated from a cemetery was taken to Rambewa and burnt, and the parts were dropped near the stone quarry. The police say that a comprehensive investigation will be carried out.
