In the last four days, 6,000 raids have been conducted in connection with trading using illegal weighing and measuring equipment, says Sujeewa Akuranthilaka, Director of the Measurement Unit Standards and Services Department.
He told Newswave that they have taken steps to prosecute 500 businessmen in connection with these raids.
He said that the Measurement Unit Standards and Services Department conducted nearly 12,000 raids in the last three months of this year alone.
