Fort Police Station has received a complaint that an amount of Rs. 5 million stored in the vault of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has been stolen.
Mr. PR Dayananda, an officer of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka’s transaction and finance department, complained about this to the Fort Police yesterday evening.
The police suspect that the theft is an inside job as only the department officers can enter the cash vault, and outsiders are not allowed to enter.
